“Whatever our souls are made of, yours and mine are made of the same thing”
[Emily Brontë]
Some weddings follow a standard script. Then there are ones like Tara and Brett’s, where every choice says something clear.
He’s Australian, she’s Canadian: different countries, same energy.
Casa Cornacchi, a place I love in the Val d’Ambra, was the right setting: a historic home surrounded by untouched nature, with dense woods, soft hills, and vineyards stretching into the distance.
Tara is a designer, and her dress said it all. Colorful, with generous ruffles and a rose pattern that felt both romantic and slightly rebellious. Not a conventional bride. Someone who knows exactly who she is and what she wants.
The most intense moment came even before the ceremony. They stepped away, just the two of them, under a large oak tree. They read their vows, got emotional, held each other as if nothing else mattered.
When Tara finished, she took a piece of her dress and placed it in Brett’s pocket.
A small gesture. But it held everything.
Then the rain came, but no one really reacted: a drink inside the venue, a couple of laughs, time to wait. When the sky opened again, the smell of rain in the air and the light shifted everything.
Dinner unfolded in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere, with speeches that were deeply moving without ever feeling overstated, before giving way to a truly lively and energetic after-party.
Canada and Australia together could only lead to one thing: a kind of energy that fills the space and stays.
A special thanks to Daniele Vertelli, with whom I had the pleasure of working on this day.
