There’s a moment, at the beginning of certain sessions, when you can already tell how things will unfold. In Gargonza, a small medieval village near Monte San Savino in the Val di Chiana, it started with a bluetooth speaker playing between the narrow streets, and Valentina, without overthinking, moving with the music.
This session was a birthday gift. Her boyfriend had arranged it for her as a surprise.
We didn’t get there right away. We had to postpone several times, held back by the weather, until we stopped trying to chase the perfect day and simply made the most of the first good one.
Gargonza did the rest. Narrow streets, stone walls, hidden corners. A place that changes every time, with a quiet, suspended atmosphere.
By then, the music had already become part of everything. It filled the space, gave rhythm to the movements, and softened any hesitation. There was no need to say much. You just had to let go.
The photographs came from that, naturally.
And in the end, what remained was a simple but clear feeling: the memory of an intense, happy day, just as Valentina later told me herself.
