“They met. He came to know her, and in doing so, himself, because in truth he had never really known who he was.
And she came to know him, and herself, because even though she had always known, she had never truly recognized herself like that before.”
[Italo Calvino]
Martina and Michele are one of those couples where connection happens even before you properly meet. Immediate, natural, almost inevitable.
They reached out to me directly, even though their very talented wedding planner had suggested other names. It meant a lot to me, both as a photographer and as a person, and it gave me the chance to work alongside a true professional.
The day started at home, in that quiet, suspended time of getting ready. Martina was simply breathtaking. Her copper hair caught the light and gave it back warm, golden, alive. Just like her: strong in character, yet full of grace, softening every time her eyes met Michele’s.
He could barely hold back what he was feeling. It showed in the way he looked at her, in small, precise gestures, in that quiet way of loving without needing to say anything out loud.
Two genuine, fresh and beautiful people. And between them, an invisible thread that kept drawing them back to each other, again and again, throughout the day.
That’s what I tried to hold onto in my images: the lightness, the natural way they were together, that kind of authenticity you recognize instantly.
Podere La Doccia, in Civitella Val di Chiana, felt very much like them: warm, honest, nothing unnecessary. Ancient olive trees, neat rows of vines, flowers chosen one by one.
Dinner set among the vines, with soft lights hanging in the air, moved at a slow, easy pace. Then the music, together with the open bar, shifted everything, and the party opened up in the best way.
I really loved this wedding, and I felt comfortable from the very beginning, also because among the guests there were familiar faces.
And maybe that’s what made it all feel so real: that sense of being part of the day, not just there to document it.
