“The best of our days are still ahead of us. And the most beautiful thing I want to tell you, I haven’t said yet.”
[Nazim Hikmet]
Gaia and Andrea are my friends, and this shoot started from a simple idea of mine: a few photos of them together in Florence, the most romantic city in the world.
Finding a date that worked for all three of us wasn’t easy, but in the end, we made it happen.
The day before the shoot, Andrea called me.
“Marco, I’ve decided. Tomorrow I’m going to ask Gaia to marry me. I got the ring.”
My heart skipped a beat. It was beautiful news, and it changed everything.
The next morning we headed to Florence very early, to enjoy the streets while they were still quiet and empty. Gaia had no idea. And in that secret shared between Andrea and me, there was a beautiful kind of tension, made of knowing glances and carefully timed moments.
That day, Florence stopped being just a location and became the stage for a new beginning.
When the moment came, Andrea got down on one knee, and Gaia couldn’t hold back her joy or her tears. A beautiful moment, one that gave me the emotion of seeing two friends become something more, and the privilege of capturing it.
For this shoot, I worked a little differently than usual, giving a bit more direction to create the right space for the moment to unfold, without ever taking away from its naturalness.
A guided path, real emotions.
