You see young man, this love thing… It’s a very powerful thing! – Stronger than gravity? – Well yes son, in a way… I would say it is the greatest force on earth!
[The sword in the Stone]
Sometimes love defies distances, languages, and borders. It finds its way to Tuscany, to the heart of Chianti, where it settles under an open sky among rolling hills and soft green fields.
That’s what brought Hugo and Jan here: one from Brazil, the other from Germany but living both in Sidney, Australia. Around them, a small crowd of loved ones from all over the world, gathered to celebrate something that, beyond definitions, is simply love.
In the garden at Borgo Castelvecchi, the chairs weren’t set in straight rows, but in a spiral, wrapping everyone into one shared embrace. At the center stood the two of them: moved, glowing, completely in love. What followed was a joyful, down-to-earth wedding filled with everything that matters: laughter, tears, hugs, dancing, quiet glances. Everything but the usual clichés.
I had the privilege of being there, alongside my friend and colleague Daniele Vertelli, to capture this beautiful and sincere story.
Italy has taken a step forward in embracing LGBTQIA+ unions, and I’m glad Hugo and Jan chose this place and this moment to turn their love into something even greater.
